Editorial policy
Local Arts Spotlight aims to make art coverage accurate, independent and clear about what is known, interpreted or offered in partnership. Readers should be able to tell why a piece is published and how to raise a concern.
Accuracy and context
We check names, descriptions and factual claims against appropriate material available for the piece, and avoid presenting an interpretation as settled fact. Where context is uncertain or accounts differ, we say so rather than filling gaps with guesses.
Independence
Editorial choices are made for relevance to readers and the publication's subject. A commercial relationship does not determine an editorial conclusion; sponsored or partner material is clearly labelled so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial work.
Corrections
If you spot an error, contact us with the article and the detail in question. We review correction requests and amend material when warranted, making significant changes clear to readers.
Images and illustrations
Images are chosen to support the subject and are presented with captions or context where appropriate. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; when they are, they are identified as such and are not presented as documentary evidence.
Art belongs in the conversation about place.
We look at how images, objects and creative choices shape the way a place feels and what its people notice.
